Predators are always a threat when living in the mountains. For me the worst are raccoons. They have taken a few on me. A friend lost 34 to a raccoonin one night. This system has alerted me several times and I believe has saved many of my birds.

The timer is adjust according to the time of the year. In the summer 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Winter 6:00 PM TO 6:00 AM.

The total system cost about $150.00 Canadian and has alerted me several times when a cat or raccoon was at the loft. 5 raccoons have been caught in less than a year. Normally when the light turns on and the bell rings the animals are scared off.

One other benefit has been that the system can be set to alert you on race day. If you have to leave the watch and a bird arrives the alarm will sound.
